I used to buy a pair of cheap dress shoes at a discount store every year or so. I would need a pair of black shoes and they seemed to disappear or get ruined each time I needed them so I purchased many, many shoes of very inferior quality. I finally got tired of that and splurged on a pair of nice shoes. I found that I take better care of them and expect them to last a very long time. I know the dilemma well.
